God's anger and Wrath

Let's define " anger " from dictionaries: Anger is an EMOTION characterized by 'antagonism' toward someone or something you feel has deliberately done you wrong...- www.apa.org

What are those emotions like ?

Another dictionary renders this way :

...a strong feeling that makes YOU WANT TO HURT someone or be unpleasant because of something unfair or unkind that has happened..- dictionary.Cambridge.org

The idea is anger is strong emotions and feelings. They are feelings of desiring to hurt or antagonistic /against the individual himself.

There are about 145 synonymies  of anger .

 Just to highlight a few:

animosity, antagonism, displeasure

enmity, fury, hatred, impatience, irritation, passion, rage, resentment, temper, violence.

You honestly think God can possess such attributes ? Are they consistent with selfless love ?  The reason why am starting from basics is to find man's thoughts or ideas  of anger .

And then we ask; Is God's anger anything like that ? Actually note that the definitions and synonymies above describe man's anger. So we ask is God's anger anything like ours ?  One article describes man's anger this way:

"Anger is a human emotion. It is a feeling of adrenaline that comes with increased blood flow to your muscles. Your muscles contract, your skin gets hot, and your mind focuses on the problem at hand. " - Bible project .

So the impression is something like : Ready to inflict pain. " I will teach you a lesson. "  You get the point ?

What theology does to a sanctify anger is add an adjective " righteous " . And explain by " a righteous cause " , but the elements toward the individuals are constant.. fury , resentment, towards the sinner.

The emotions /feels are same but reasonanbly justifiable for God of freedom?  This is madness . But let me share it anyway👉

 Qouted:

" There is really no good way to soften ‘the wrath of God’ to mean anything other than AN ANGRY RESPONSE on God’s part to human disobedience …"- Christianity.com

As a result from the pulpits warnings are that we fear lest God's get mad at us because :  "..God’s wrath is to be feared because we are JUSTLY CONDEMNED sinners apart from Christ(Romans 5:1). God’s wrath is to be feared because he is POWERFUL enough to do what he promises (Jeremiah 32:17)."  -desiringgod.com. Is it God who has condemned us ? So he sent his son to save us from his own condemnation Against us? sounds like narcissism.

You remember the andrenoline rushing to the muscle ready to teach someone  a lesson ? You feel the idea ! God is powerful enough , first he will 'JUSTLY' condemn and he so powerful to deal with you. You end up having a God who is so much like you, a man of wrath ! 😣

What did Christ show as God's anger ? This is Key to help us get out of this mucky theology .

 Mark 3:1-6

Mark 3:5

[5]And when he had looked round about on them with ANGER, BEING GRIEVED for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

Jesus was experiencing grief, or deep sadness.

Another word is pinning away . Which means 👉

God's anger is intense grieving. ANGUISH of heart. You can see that when he lamented " O Jerusalem , OJerusalem , How long...."

Tha is how 'hot' God's anger is.

Men's anger is intense fury , resentment that rush to inflict pain and hurt the offender..( then we have projected this to God)

God's anger is intense anguish and pity for the sin of his people will cause damage to them. Instead of rushing to them to hurt God always depart 👉

“For THE WRATH OF GOD is revealed from heaven"- Romans 1:18

“Therefore God also GAVE them UP to uncleanness, in the lusts of their

hearts ...” (Verse 24)

“For this reason God GAVE them UP to vile passions ...” (Verse 26)

 Hosea 13:9-11

[9]O Israel, thou hast DESTROYED THYSELF; but in me is thine help.

[10]I will be thy king: where is any other that may save thee in all thy cities? and thy judges of whom thou saidst, Give me a king and princes?

[11]I gave thee a king IN MINE ANGER, and took him away in my wrath.

Israel destroying themselves by requesting an earthly king. God’s “anger” responded by giving them what they selfishly desired.

Having known God's justice and his Anger. Then we are equiped to know,  from what did Christ's death save us ?

“Anger is cruel and fury overwhelming, but who can stand before jealousy?” (Psalm 27:4 NIV84).
